After her son goes missing, a broken mother returns months later to the island of El Hierro to identify a body. She finds out her son is not the only one missing. A trip to El Hierro in the Canary Islands becomes a nightmare for Maria after her son vanishes on their ferry ride to the island. At first she believes the boy was lost at sea, but months later a child's body is recovered.
