Janek comes to Warsaw to become the godfather of his good old friend's baby. During the week before the ceremony the lives of Janek, Michal and his wife Magda change dramatically as the men's criminal past haunts them mercilessly. Returning home, soldier Janek gets a jolt when he looks up reckless old buddy Michal to find he's straightened up and gotten married. But it soon becomes clear that Michal hasn't shaken off his violent past.
